ANRP Presidential candidate,Tope Kolade Fasua, the owner of the slogan #RevolutionOfIdea, requested for the bank account details of vulnerable citizens, using his social media handle Tope Fasua to provide Food For Nigerians via direct payments into people bank account credit of #5000. TKF thought it wise that without making noise,he has capacity to make impact on a few Nigerians by making direct payment into their respective accounts while maintaining a clean and transparent sheets. He has provided succour for poor Nigerians with less than one thousand naira in their bank accounts to enable them buy food during this extension of lockdown.According to him,Nigeria being the poverty capital of the world before the coming of this pandemic, and now we are having a lockdown, what hunger is doing and going to do during this period is better imagined than experienced, is what informed his coming out to assist fellow citizens at this very difficult time.He urged other Nigerians to do same and not only donate to the government, while the real people that requires this help are dying of hunger while FG battle the coronavirus pandemic.
He maintained that,it saves cost to give Nigerians five thousand Naira (#5000) from the comfort of your residence, electronically and the targeted people can get it and the audit has no limit than carrying cash around, thereby exposing beneficiaries to robbery attack.See,let’s tell ourselves the truth,it doesn’t make sense donating to the FG and FG turns around donating to the people, the best I suppose is this method I have adopted…individuals can donate other medicals, buildings, equipped with modern medical facilities and not money for the feeding of vulnerable citizens. For want of time, let me stop here.
In another development, our source interviewed a citizen, who has a different view on the extension of lockdown on the two most important cities in Nigeria, one is the political capital and the other economic capital, cum industrial hub…
Lockdown extension will definitely have big impacts on the fragile economy.
Our leaders once again have demonstrated their inability to empathize with the people they rule, the people that gave them power to rule and the people that trusted that they will lead them aright.
They have and will continue to be bereft of ideas and the masses are the one that will always suffer for their sins. I am still amused at the speech of the President, albeit the achievements of government on the Covid-19 issue and the steps taken to protect the citizenry. It was like he was reading an alien script of which he knows nothing about.
We have no business following the models of the superpowers. What works for them may not work for us. Its simple enough, we don’t have a crisis here. We are enlightened people and we respond sharply to issues as they arise. Except the government has another agenda, they have no justification to perpetuate the crippling of our fragile existence, truly.
The impact of the current extension will be very serious for the economy. And this will ultimately affect how people react and co-operate. When you lock down a country, people become desperate and this is indeed dangerous as Nigerians are desperate already.
The extension of the lockdown may cripple business, especially small businesses which accounts for the majority of the citizenry, such that after the lockdown, they may have nothing to fall back on except to start all over again.
Already the economy is suffering a contraction of double digits and with the extension it will only get worse. Companies will close down, unemployment will rise and abject poverty will rule the land. Crime is on the rise as we speak. Miscreants have taken over the streets. There will be more life’s insecurity than the Coronavirus.
The Covid-19 figures from our domain are not alarming. Preventing the disease is rife and the people are massively involved in the awareness. We can never be able to improve the healthcare as much as can secure the entire populace so I wonder what the gains of the lockdown are.
Government should open up the economy in stages. Artisans should be allowed to go about their businesses. Ad-hoc health officials can now move about and carry out their tasks of testing and caring right on the streets.
How can you keep people at home to prevent a contagious disease without going to fumigate their environment in case some have come in contact already. It’s only suicidal.
Finally, government should have relied on metrics of the masses who are more in number and weigh the impacts before taking this decision. We can’t continue to copy and paste in this country.
